This large round vase has had a copper carbonate wash applied before being glazed with Blue Chun and Celedon. Combined with the reduction firing technique, this creates the red hue which sits in the groves of the clay body and gives the piece vibrancy and depth. It has a glass marble pressed into it which melts into the glaze during firing, creating colour spots of interest.
